The tiny island country of Tuvalu in the South Pacific is expected to achieve the water supply and sanitation target of the Millennium Development Goals—a feat made easier by the fact that total population is just almost 12,000. What is worrisome is Tuvalu’s low elevation—only a couple of meters above sea-level—which may make the country the first victim of rising sea levels due to climate change. Tuvalu will meet the MDG deadline, yes, but will there still be a Tuvalu beyond 2015?
