ADB recognizes the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of its staff in facilitating the process and completing the deliverables of its water supply and sanitation projects. ADB mission leaders have the critical responsibility of driving this process, from planning and preparation to negotiation and implementation. To further support operations staff, RSDD through its Cooperation Fund for the Water Sector, initiated the Mission Leaders' Coaching/ Mentoring Program in June 2005.
In the past, ADB has implemented the Project Team Leadership Program that pairs former ADB mission leaders with current mission leaders to help in the preparation, negotiation, and execution of ADB projects. The new program for coaching and mentoring mission leaders is designed to enable mission leaders to better understand themselves, their project team, and their project environment better.
Phase I of the program has already been completed and Phase II will start with its application in the Tonle Sap Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Cambodia in mid-2006.
