Long Term Strategic Framework

Addressing governance issues is the third core strategic area of intervention in ADB's Long Term Strategic Framework. The LTSF notes 'Poor governance constrains, retards and distorts the general process of development, and has a disproportionate impact on the poorer and weaker sections of society'. (LTSF, para 39).

'ADB will focus on promoting good governance in partnership with the DMCs…as part of its agenda ...ADB has developed a medium term action plan . ….Four elements of good governance define the focus and direction of ADB's initiatives in this area: accountability, participation, predictability, and transparency'. (LTSF, para 41)
