International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage

The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) was established as a Scientific, Technical and Voluntary not-for-profit non-governmental International Organization with headquarters in New Delhi, India and has a membership of 104 countries.

ICID role is 'dedicated to enhancing the worldwide supply of food and fibre for all people by improving water and land management and the productivity of irrigated and drained lands through appropriate management of water, environment and application of irrigation, drainage and flood management techniques.'

It has number of working groups related to management of land and water resources for agriculture.

In 2000, ICID developed a position paper on dams and in 2004 published a task force report on decision-making for dam projects.
