WWF's Dams Initiative is challenging financial institutions to ensure, post WCD, that investment in dams and other large infrastructure projects becomes more financially viable, as well as environmentally responsible and socially sustainable.

We have published an Investor's Guide to Dams, giving a detailed overview of the benefits, costs and risks to be taken into account when considering investments in dams.

We advocate alternative options to dam proposals. Such as WWF Poland's work on the Wloclawek dam options assessment.

We promote renewable energy and energy efficiency as solutions to global energy needs.

We work with other stakeholders to improve the operations of existing dams.'
