Asia’s river basins need to be managed in integrated ways that promote equitable sharing of water resources while preserving the environment.

ADB’s Water Financing Program is doubling investments in infrastructure and management of water regulation and hydropower facilities, flood management, and watershed and wetlands conservation.

IWRM in 25 River Basins
ADB's WFP targets the introduction of integrated water resources management (IWRM) in 25 river basins across the region. A list of IWRM elements and a generic roadmap have been developed and 20 basins have been identified. Will ADB hit the mark by 2010?

Thailand: Adaptive Management Approach to IWRM in Yom River Basin
ADB has approved US$50,000 funding to improve management of Thailand's Yom river basin. An adaptive management approach will be used to assist local government and civil society implement intergrated water resources management principles in the basin.
