Baku 2015 Sustainability Activities

ADB and Azerbaijan are partnering to make the 48th Annual Meeting, to be held from 2 to 5 May in Baku, a sustainable event. Following ADB’s guiding principles on sustainable events, ADB and Azerbaijan are enhancing the positive impact of the meeting on the environment, the economy and society through a series of inititiatives. These include:

Environment (Greening the meeting)

• Reducing paper consumption and waste
• Recycling waste at the venue and hotels

Economy (Investing Locally)

• Hiring local companies where possible
• Using local produce at all events
• Showcasing business and investment opportunities in Azerbaijan
• Promoting Azeri handicrafts and goods

Socially (Engaging Stakeholders)

• Working with suppliers on social responsibility
• Meeting the needs of vulnerable groups
• Highlighting local history and culture to all participants
• Presenting ADB to the local community
