Frankfurt 2016 Sustainability Activities

ADB and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany are partnering to make the 49th Annual Meeting, to be held from 2 to 5 May in Frankfurt, a sustainable and carbon-neutral event. A tree-planting activity will take place on 30 April at the Goethe University to mark the spot of a planned Green Lecture Hall and to launch the Annual Meeting activities.
In line with ADB’s event sustainability and guiding principles, ADB and Germany are cooperating to enhance the economic, environmental, and social impact of the meeting through various initiatives.

Environment: Achieve Carbon-neutrality
- Implement carpool concept
- Encourage use of public transport
- Reduce number of printed AM materials
- Use of recycled paper in all AM printed materials
- Limit solid waste generation
- Utilize green electricity at venues
- Plant trees
- Offset carbon emissions
Economy: Invest Locally and Practice Fair Trade
- Use local resources and support local trade
- Follow fair trade practices
- Use regional and seasonal food
- Showcase German technology in the City of Sustainability
Social: Engage Stakeholders
- Promote inclusivity, diversity and equality
- Enforce health and safety standards
- Work with suppliers on sustainability principles and practices
- Integrate sustainability in all communications
