The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) is seeking a part-time or full-time Capacity Building and Training (CBT) Associate for supporting the delivery of CBT programs and empirical research on priority development topics.


  • Assist in the organization and implementation of workshops and other capacity building programs
  • Research assistance, including literature reviews and quantitative methods
  • Draft research papers, policy briefs, and other documents with task manager(s)
  • Support the preparation of presentations for senior staff
  • Communicate and coordinate with government officials and experts in Asian Development Bank member economies and ADBI’s networks
  • Help with the general administration of the CBT department


  • Master’s or doctoral degree related to economics, public policy, or social development in Asia preferred
  • Good organizational skills, hardworking, and strong professional commitment
  • Strong analytical skills on policy issues related to development and capacity building
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in written and oral English

Applicants must be nationals of an Asian Development Bank member economy, currently residing in Japan, and already in possession of valid permission to work.

CBT Associates serve for limited terms as independent contractors in a personal capacity. They are neither officers nor staff of ADBI. CBT Associates work under the direct supervision of ADBI professional staff and the overall guidance of the Deputy Dean (CBT and Special Activities).
