Addressing Remaining Poverty and Reducing Inequality
While Asia and the Pacific have made tremendous progress in reducing income poverty, much more needs to be done to address the non-income dimensions of poverty and vulnerability in urban and rural areas; promote social inclusion and development, particularly for vulnerable groups; and build resilience. ADB’s Strategy 2030 identifies as constraints the lack of human development and social inclusion, quality jobs, education and training, good health care, and social protection. The Capacity Building and Training Department will promote new development strategies; address constraints on inclusive growth; share good practices and country experiences in generating quality jobs, including by small and medium-sized enterprises; improve education and training; achieve better health for all; and ensure social protection for those in need.
