ADB Institute's Shinichi Nakabayashi proposed the use of tax sharing bonds to fund Asia's huge infrastructure needs in a panel on the One Belt One Road Initiative at the 2017 China Global Think Tank Innovation Summit held on 23–24 June in Qingdao, People's Republic of China. The summit was organized by the Center for China & Globalization, and the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Read more.
ADBI held a special session at the third International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF) on 15–16 June in Da Nang, Viet Nam. Topics discussed included factors driving the stock prices in Asia, agency conflicts in intercorporate asset sales, and investment behavior under high uncertainty. The event, attended by nearly 200 researchers from all over the world, was organized by the University of Economics–The University of Danang (UEUD) in Viet Nam, the Institute of Global Finance (IGF) at the University of New South Wales in Australia, and Aston University in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with Yokohama National University (YNU) in Japan and ACCA Viet Nam. The latest Asia Bond Monitor was launched on 23 June at ADBI at a conference co-organized by ADB and ADBI. ADB's Donghyun Park and Shu Tian led the launch, ADBI Dean Naoyuki Yoshino presented about the Japanese bond market, and Yuta Seki of the Nomura Institute of Capital Market Research gave a private sector view of Asian bond market developments. ADBI, the Korea Women's Development Institute (KWDI), and the Korea Labor Institute(KLI) organized a workshop to promote gender equality and women empowerment on 14-15 June in Seoul. Topics discussed included the gender gap and labor policies to promote women's participation in the workforce, the causes of low female income and fertility, work-life balance, and the role of training and education for closing the gender gap in various Asian countries.
