Philadelphia, United States – The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) has been named the world’s best “government affiliated think tank,” according to the newly released 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report from the University of Pennsylvania Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program.

The annual ranking assessment identified ADBI, the Tokyo-based think tank of the Asian Development Bank, as the number one think tank among those “that situate in government and are considered a part of the government body,” citing its “outstanding policy research.”

ADBI also placed 24th in the worldwide think tank ranking and 6th among international development policy think tanks.

There are 8,248 think tanks globally, according to the 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report. The assessment was produced in coordination with a panel of over 1,796 peer institutions and experts from academia, public and private donor institutions, governments, and media worldwide.

ADBI had been ranked by the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report as the world’s second-best government affiliated think tank for the past five consecutive years, from 2014-2018, and placed 25th in the previous worldwide think tank ranking.
