The 57th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors will be held from 2 to 5 May in Tbilisi, Georgia. Please check this page often as information is regularly updated. Download the InfoMap.

Participation is by invitation only. Invited participants include members of ADB Board of Governors, ADB government member delegations, observers invited by the Chair of the ADB Board of Governors, civil society organizations, members of the media, financial institutions and banks, private corporations, consulting firms and individuals, former ADB employees, members of ADB Board of Directors, Management and staff, and other organizations and individuals who have established a business relationship with ADB.

Visa and passport

The Georgia e-Visa portal provides complete information on whether you require a visa to enter Georgia, as well as instructions on how to obtain a visa prior to traveling to Georgia. Some ADB member nationals may also enter and stay in Georgia without a Georgian visa depending on their travel documents. To find out if you require a visa, enter your credentials in the portal’s visa app. For visa questions not covered by the portal, please contact [email protected].

Georgian embassies and consulates may require your ADB confirmation letter as a requirement for obtaining a visa.

Annual Meeting participants should ensure that their passports are valid at least six months from the date of entry to Georgia. Applicable transit visas are the responsibility of the participant. Neither ADB nor the host government can assist on transit visa related issues.

Flight to Tbilisi

Tbilisi International Airport is the primary gateway in Georgia for major airlines that fly to different cities around the world.

Travel Insurance

Annual Meeting participants are advised to obtain medical and travel insurance as well as medical assistance coverage. Neither ADB nor the government of Georgia will be responsible for any medical costs or loss and/or damage of personal property incurred during the Annual Meeting.

The 57th Annual Meeting will be held in multiple venues in Tbilisi. Most of these venues are on Rustaveli Avenue which is about 30 minutes travel time from Tbilisi International Airport. See the vicinity map.

The host country, in coordination with the Annual Meeting secretariat, has identified suitable hotels within the Tbilisi city center that offer negotiated rates for participants. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. A deposit equivalent to a one-night stay is required to make a reservation. Participants are expected to adhere to the reservation policies of the respective hotels and are responsible for paying all personal room, tax, and incidental charges upon check-out.

Hotel bookings of official delegations of ADB members will be coursed through their nominated focal persons.

The host country has arranged free transportation for Annual Meeting participants. Present the Annual Meeting badge or confirmation letter when taking shuttles.

Airport shuttles
  • Only those arriving at or departing from Tbilisi International Airport may use the shuttle service.
  • For arrivals, service from the airport to partner hotels will be from 30 April to 4 May starting 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. There is an Annual Meeting information desk near the luggage carousel area for assistance.
  • For departures, service from partner hotels to airport will be from 5 to 7 May starting 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. Participants must provide their flight departure details to the Annual Meeting information desk or hotel reception/front desk at least 24 hours in advance. Also, it is recommended to be at the airport at least three (3) hours before the scheduled flight.
  • Partner hotels will be grouped according to clusters with designated drop-off and pick-up areas for participants. Details will be available soon.
Event shuttles

Regular shuttle service from partner hotels to various Annual Meeting venues and vice versa will be available on these schedules:

  • 1 May from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • 2 and 3 May from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • 4 May from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • 5 May from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Shuttle routes and designated pick-up and drop-off areas will be available soon.

Other transportation options
  • Participants may take accredited Bene Exclusive taxis parked outside the arrival gate of the airport going to their hotels within Tbilisi.
  • Mobile app Bolt may be downloaded and used to book a vehicle in Tbilisi.
  • Transportation card will be provided to participants as part of the Annual Meeting conference bag. This can be used on Tbilisi metro system, as well as public buses and minibuses from 22 April to 7 May.
  • For rental of private vehicles, fill-out the form and send it via email to [email protected] at least ten (10) days in advance. Note that private vehicles will not have the same access especially on some restricted areas like the official Annual Meeting vehicles.
Travel and Medical Insurance

Participants are encouraged to obtain comprehensive travel insurance to cover any medical emergencies or hospital costs. Neither ADB nor the government of Georgia will be responsible for any medical costs incurred by participants during the meeting.

Emergency Services

For the emergency services, please call 112 which is a 24-hour emergency response center. The number can be dialed from mobile and fixed phones, even if there is no balance or SIM card in the phone. All calls to number 112 are free of charge.

Participants can also ask for assistance from the Annual Meeting Information Desk in all Annual Meeting venues operating from 2 to 5 May from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Security access control measures will be strictly enforced in all Annual Meeting venues. Participants must always wear their Annual Meeting ID badge visibly in meeting venues. This will allow access to meeting working areas and official networking events. Participants will be required to go through security checks and have their belongings screened, and if necessary, searched. Participants may be asked to deposit any items not permitted into the venues.

Currency

Georgia uses a floating exchange rate system, with short-term fluctuations but long-term stability. Payment methods via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Apple Pay are widely accepted in Georgia.

Tipping is not customary in Georgia, but it is appreciated.

SIM cards

Travelers can purchase local SIM cards at the airport and in local stores. Note that presenting a physical passport/ID may be required when buying local SIM cards for registration. Magticom (Magti) and Silknet (formerly Geocell) are the main telecommunications provider in Georgia.

Electric current

The standard electric current in Georgia is 220 volts at 50 Hertz. Power plugs and sockets are type C or type F. Bringing a multi-voltage travel adaptor is advised and can be purchased at the airport, retail stores, major duty-free shops, and even convenience stores.
