The Philippines' forthcoming National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) reflect the country’s commitment to addressing mitigation and adaptation together. This high-level dialogue by the Government of the Philippines – supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) – will discuss partnerships for accelerating climate finance and the role of key financing coalitions like the Vulnerable Twenty Group (V20) and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA).

Objectives

  • Foster dialogue among finance ministers from coalitions on accelerating climate finance in private and public programs at a sufficient scale to combat the impacts of extreme climate events;
  • To explore and share best practices for innovative financing instruments and approaches: debt-for-nature/debt-for-climate swaps, carbon pricing instruments(e.g., carbon and nature credits), catalytic climate finance vehicles, transition bonds.
