ADB supports projects in developing member countries that create economic and development impact, delivered through both public and private sector operations, advisory services, and knowledge support.
Mr. Adhikari manages (i) about 20 evaluation studies each year, covering the infrastructure and utilities sector, finance, private sector operations, and regional economic cooperation (summary of tasks/responsibilities); (ii) review and providing comments on loan documents, technical assistance papers, country strategy and programs, and policy papers; and (iii) disseminating evaluation findings/lessons. He also participates in management review meetings and development effectiveness committee meetings.

The paper asserts that project designs and benefit valuation in the health sector are much more complex than in other sectors that traditionally apply economic cost-benefit analysis. Economic analysis should therefore begin at the early stage of project development. Improved project economic analysis provides a strong basis for choosing between project alternatives and program and project approaches. The selected option to meet the likely demand for project activities is further evaluated to examine their worth from the point of view of the national economy and long-term sustainability.
