Robert Wihtol

Robert Wihtol is the former Director General of Asia Development Bank’s East Asia Department, which is responsible for ADB's operations in the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Mongolia. In over the past 19 years that Robert has been with ADB, he has worked mainly on transitional economies in Central Asia, particularly in Mongolia and the PRC where he served as Country Director from 2008-2010. Robert is interested in policy and research related to the PRC's economic development and transformation, as well as in human resource development and the education sector throughout the Asian region. Robert hails from Finland and holds a Master's Degree from the University of Helsinki and a DPhil from the Oxford University.

He's currently an independent development banking specialist.
