Strengthening Functional Urban Regions in Azerbaijan: National Urban Assessment 2017

This publication helps guide investment planning and financing across key urban infrastructure sectors of Azerbaijan to improve the performance of cities—with a focus on economy, equity, and environment.

Economic Forecast

GDP growth strengthened in 2018 as expansion in services and agriculture continued, and as industry contracted less. Exchange rate stability tamed inflation, and higher oil prices widened the current account surplus.

Growth is forecast to inch higher in 2019 and 2020 on expanded public spending, gas production, and output aside from petroleum, with inflation rebounding slightly in both years and higher gas exports further widening the current account surplus. Improving infrastructure is a priority.

Results of ADB-Supported Operations, 2010-2018

Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.

Projects Cofinanced, 2014-2018

Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects. Additional funds are provided in the form of official loans and grants, technical assistance, other concessional financing, and commercial cofinancing such as B loans, risk transfer arrangements, parallel loans and equity, guarantee cofinancing, and cofinancing for transactions under ADB’s Trade Finance Program.
