Annual Report on 2006 Portfolio Performance

This is the sixth Annual Report on Portfolio Performance which focuses on the way management for development results is currently practiced in portfolio management and provides recommendations on how the quality of project performance monitoring and management can be improved.

This is the sixth Annual Report on Portfolio Performance prepared by the Operations Evaluation Department (OED) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It provides an overview of the size, composition, and quality of ADB's sovereign loan, grant, technical assistance (TA), and private sector portfolios. Its purpose is to assess and evaluate trends and issues related to the performance of ADB's sovereign loan, TA, grant, and private sector portfolios. The report draws on ADB's quarterly project and TA performance monitoring systems, which provide ratings for implementation progress and expected achievement of impact and outcome, and identify potential problem projects as well as projects at risk. It focuses on the way portfolio performance is currently managed and provides recommendations on how this can be improved. Consistent with past reports, this one uses predominantly a 5-year time frame to examine trends in the portfolio, but also offers a longer historical perspective if meaningful.
