The Country Classification of Tajikistan

The Republic of Tajikistan became a regional developing member country (DMC) of the Bank in April 1998, and is seeking Bank assistance to support the country's development efforts. Thus, the Bank must determine Tajikistan's country classification. This paper discusses the proposed classification and should be read in conjunction with the Economic Report and Interim Operational Strategy for Tajikistan.
