Country Environment Note: Nepal

Institutional Document | February 2015

This Country Environment Note summarizes the state of environment of Nepal and brings together information on environment, climate change, and disaster risks.

The Country Environment Note (CEN) is based on secondary information with triangulation and verification with relevant stakeholders encompassing government, non-government, development partners and academicians. It aims to provide consolidated information for policy makers, planners and implementers to adopt environmentally sound development activities. The CEN is also expected to be a reference material for academicians and other related stakeholders.

ADB’s Nepal Country Partnership Strategy 2013-2017 (CPS) has considered sustainable environmental development as one of its thematic drivers of change. The CPS focuses on mainstreaming environmental safeguards in investments and aims to extend support in disaster and climate change risk management.
