The Asian Development Bank is committed to promoting the highest ethical standards in its operations, in its developing member countries, and among its staff. Under Strategy 2030, one of its priorities is strengthening governance and institutional capacity. The Office of Anticorruption and Integrity (OAI) promotes good governance, advances awareness of ADB’s Anticorruption Policy, and builds the capacity of developing member countries (DMCs) in supporting this.
This report highlights efforts ADB—through OAI—implemented in 2018—to foster integrity and to fight corruption in Asia and the Pacific, in collaboration with regional and international partners. OAI’s focus on investigations resulted in sanctions, reprimands, cautions, and cross-debarments of firms and individuals, while its work on preventing project and integrity-related risks resulted in mitigating measures.
Efforts this year also focused on tax integrity and anti–money laundering initiatives; measures to combat the financing of terrorism; respectful workplace advisories on bullying, sexual harassment, and other misconduct; as well as the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific.
