People’s Republic of China: Hunan Xiangjiang Inland Waterway Transport Project

The project aimed to improve the inland waterway transport system on the Xiang River by constructing inland waterway transport navigation with a hydropower generation complex, terminal berths, and public landing stages, and providing institutional support to waterway management agencies. The expected project impact was an efficient, safe, affordable, and sustainable IWT system developed in Hunan Province. Its envisaged outcome was an improved low carbon waterway transport system on the Xiang River in Hunan Province.
This report validated the completion report's assessment of the project. IED overall assessment: Highly successful.
