People’s Republic of China: Jiangsu Yancheng Wetlands Protection Project

The Jiangsu Yancheng Wetlands Protection Project, which covers about 291,300 hectares (ha), was formulated to rehabilitate, protect, and conserve wetland and biodiversity, and coastal forests in the PRC’s Yancheng municipality. The project was also geared to protect marine and estuarine plants and fish species in northern Jiangsu. The project’s integrated approach was to address these constraints on wetland protection. The planned interventions were to involve both engineering measures and policy and social development (livelihoods and community participation). The project was to be financed through a project investment modality.
