    The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam: Power Transmission Investment Program in Viet Nam (Multitranche Financing Facility and Tranche 3)

    The program was designed to add 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines and associated substations, build capacity for improving the operational effectiveness and efficiency of National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT), and support program implementation. Tranche 3 included nine subprojects for the construction of two new transmission lines and two new substations, and the extension of five existing substations located in central and southern regions.

    Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Socialist Republic of Viet Nam: Second Northern Greater Mekong Subregion Transport Network Improvement Project

    The project was to improve transport connectivity; facilitate rapidly growing international traffic along the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Northeastern Corridor; increase accessibility to opportunities, enterprise, markets, and services for the locals; and strengthen overall trade competitiveness. Its intended outcome was more efficient transport across the Lao PDR–Viet Nam border and on the sections of the GMS Northeastern Corridor.

    India: Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission and Distribution System Project

    The project supported and continued the expansion and strengthening of transmission and distribution networks that was ongoing under previously approved investment programs and the Government of Madhya Pradesh's (GoMP’s) development plans. The expected project outcome was increased capacity and operational efficiency in the electricity transmission and distribution system in Madhya Pradesh.

    India: Assam Power Sector Investment Program (Tranche 2)

    The program was part of a statewide electricity infrastructure improvement program, which the Assam government launched in 2013. Its desired outcome was increased efficiency and capacity of the power distribution system in Assam.

    India: Sustainable Coastal Protection and Management Investment Program (Tranche 2 and Multitranche Financing Facility)

    The multitranche financing facility (MFF) was approved to address coastal protection and management in Karnataka and Maharashta states. Its expected outcome was protected and managed shorelines in the states meeting the needs of stakeholders and the environment, by the end of the investment program in 2019.

    This report validates the completion report's assessment of the MFF. IED overall assessment: Less than successful.

    People’s Republic of China: Chemical Industry Energy Efficiency and Emission Reduction Project

    The project was to promote the industry-wide use of technologies and processes to reduce energy intensity and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The project planned to upscale the use of less hazardous technologies in producing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and improve energy efficiency in chemical industries to reduce GHG and other emissions. Its expected outcome was reduced energy intensity and emissions from PVC and fluoropolymer production within China National Chemical Group (ChemChina).

    Cambodia: Provincial Roads Improvement Project

    The project aimed to rehabilitate about 157 kilometers (km) of roads in Kampong Chhang, Kampong Speu, Prey Veng, and Svay Rieng provinces and provide an improved provincial road network with year-long access to markets and social services in southeastern and midwestern Cambodia.

    India: Uttar Pradesh Major District Roads Improvement Project

    The project aimed to improve about 430 km of the state’s major district roads. It involved upgrading district roads; reconstructing, widening, and strengthening of culverts and bridges; and maintaining improved road assets for 5 years after construction. It also planned to conduct a road safety audit on the core road network and initiate remedial measures at critical locations.

    India: Madhya Pradesh Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Program (Tranche 2 and Multitranche Financing Facility)

    The multitranche financing facility (MFF) supported energy investments in rural areas in 16 districts (32 out of 50) in Madhya Pradesh. The physical investments mainly included separation of distribution feeders for agricultural pumps and households to restrict the overuse of subsidized power supply for agriculture and enable 24-hour supply for rural households. The nonphysical investment helped women-headed microenterprises and women’s self-help groups (SHGs) get direct benefits from the improved rural power supply.

    Republic of Maldives: Kulhudhuffushi Harbor Expansion Project

    The project was to expand the existing Kulhudhuffushi harbor, and provide institutional support for a more efficient and sustainable operation of the harbor. The expected outputs were increased harbor passenger and cargo capacity in Kulhudhuffushi; and strengthened institutional capacity in harbor operation, maintenance, safety, and financial management.
