Sri Lanka: Dry Zone Urban Water and Sanitation Project

Evaluation Document | 24 November 2020

The project focused on addressing the northern dry zone's relatively scarce water resources, deteriorated infrastructure, and uncoordinated competing demands that led to depletion of groundwater aquifers. Its impact was improved physical well-being of urban populations in the towns of Chilaw, Mannar, Puttalam, and Vavuniya in Sri Lanka’s northwestern urban dry zone through improved urban water supply and sanitation service delivery in these four towns.

This report validates the completion report's assessment of the project. IED overall assessment: Less than successful.
