Uzbekistan: Small Business and Entrepreneurship Development Project
The project was formulated to address the need to improve the ability of small businesses, including those of women, to operate, expand, access finance, and benefit from economic opportunities. The participating commercial banks (PCB) were envisaged to benefit from increased long-term finance and stronger institutional capacity, which will enable them to better meet the demand for financial services of small businesses, including women’s small businesses and rural small enterprises. Technical assistance support was provided as part of the loan to improve PCBs’ capacity to lend to small businesses and in turn improve entrepreneurial capacities of rural small businesses.
