Viet Nam: Health Care in the South Central Coast Region Project

Evaluation Document | 04 December 2017

To address inequities in the health sector and achieve the health Millennium Development Goals, the government aimed to improve health services and access in rural areas, targeting especially the poor and ethnic minorities. The government requested the support of Asian Development Bank (ADB) to develop and implement a health project in the South Central Coast Region (SCCR), while other development partners would support other regions. ADB helped prepare an $80 million investment proposal to develop a more comprehensive, better integrated, well-managed, and better-used provincial health system in eight provinces of the SCCR and approved the Health Care in the SCCR Project in 2008. The project was to be implemented from 2009 until 2013 to support the upgrading of provincial health services.
