The Work Program and Budget Framework, 2016–2018 describes the strategic priorities and operational program of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) within the context of the Midterm Review of Strategy 2020 and provides a medium-term framework for ADB’s 2016 budget. The WPBF also describes measures taken by ADB to make it a stronger, better, and faster institution.

A significant achievement in 2015 was the approval to combine the Asian Development Fund lending operations with the balance sheet of ordinary capital resources, which will triple ADB’s equity to about $53 billion. This positions ADB to provide greater development finance to its poorer developing member countries. It will also enable ADB to contribute more effectively to the climate change agenda in Asia and the Pacific and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, which was approved by the United Nations’ General Assembly in September 2015.
