We are inspired in our mission of maximizing the development effectiveness of ADB's work by listening to the unheard and responding to their issues while building transparency, integrity, and honesty along the way.
Year in Review
Amid the challenges posed by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Accountability Mechanism of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) sustained its efforts to respond to people affected by ADB-assisted projects in Asia and the Pacific.
By the Numbers
In 2021, the Accountability Mechanism admitted 18 new complaints.
Accountability Mechanism: 25-Year Story
The Office of the Compliance Review Panel and the Office of the Special Project Facilitator jointly published the celebratory Accountability Mechanism: 25-Year Story on 23 September 2021.
The problem-solving function aims to actively respond to the concerns of people affected by ADB-assisted projects through fair, transparent, and consensus-based problem-solving.
The compliance review focuses on the direct and material harm alleged by project-affected people, and whether this is caused by ADB’s violations of its operational policies and procedures in formulating, processing, or in implementing the project.
