15th Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2020)
15 - 16 October 2020
Online via Zoom
The COVID-19 pandemic is exposing glaring gaps in urban planning and development. Not to discount the human toll and tragedy of the pandemic, but this crisis can be turned into an opportunity to reduce inequalities of access and make cities more safe, healthy, environmentally sustainable, resilient, and inclusive.
Against this backdrop, the 15th Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2020) will be held on 15-16 October 2020, with the theme “Post-Pandemic Recovery and Transformation: Resilient Cities, Healthy Planet”. It is also part of Urban October, a month-long campaign on promoting a better urban future.
Bambang Susantono, ADB’s Vice-President for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development, will be delivering a speech at the opening session of GFHS 2020. VP Susantono will be discussing the action points that ADB proposes to its developing member countries to build back better post-pandemic cities.
ADB will also organize one session at GFHS 2020 to be held on 16 Oct: Thematic Forum 4B: Pursuing a resilient, inclusive, gender-equal and green economy recovery.
Dignitaries from different countries; senior officials from UN and international organizations; mayors of leading cities; representatives from the private sector; and experts and scholars are expected to attend the virtual GFHS 2020.
