ADB's Environmental Law Champions Train-the-Trainers Program

Event | 1 - 5 June 2015 ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines

Description

ADB invites you to apply for the "ADB Environmental Law Champions Development Award" established under ADB's regional technical assistance project to strengthen environmental law in the Asia-Pacific region by developing environmental law champions through train-the-trainers programs. The purpose of the train-the-trainers program is to expand and improve the teaching of environmental law across the region, thereby leading to more effective development and enforcement of environmental law in the longer term. It is seeking to attract participants both with substantial experience in environmental law, who will lead or contribute to the delivery of an in-country train-the-trainers program in the future and those with lesser experience who wish to develop or enhance their skills in teaching environmental law.

The five-day training program will enhance the capacity of professors and lecturers in universities and colleges in ADB’s developing member countries in environmental law and natural capital. The train-the-trainers program will take the form of a demonstration of the curriculum for the “train-the-teachers” course and will include a strong focus on the illustration of a wide range of teaching methodologies that are particularly suited to the context of environmental law.

This train-the-trainers program is being implemented by ADB's Office of the General Counsel under its Law, Justice and Development Program, in conjunction with IUCN Academy of Environmental law.

Target participants

Law professors and lecturers from the Greater Mekong Subregion, including Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, and upper Mekong region of the People's Republic of China.

Simultaneous translations will be provided to the extent possible, however, working knowledge of the English language will be required.

Submissions

Please submit the attached application, together with your CV via email to: [email protected] and [email protected] by close of business, Friday, 22 May 2015.
