Summary

During the COVID-19 outbreak, the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) and the Plus Three countries – Japan, the People’s Republic of China, and Republic of Korea – have implemented considerable policy measures and fiscal stimulus to help affected people and businesses and avoid an escalation of the health and economic crisis. The pandemic is also a wake-up call for governments and the international community to address growing inequalities and extreme poverty, and advance the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

This ADBI-Chulalongkorn University virtual regional conference will examine COVID-19’s impact on ASEAN Plus Three economies and how rethinking policies and social norms could reinvigorate growth and sustainable development. It will also discuss digitalization’s roles amid the COVID-19 new normal and how they could be tailored to stabilize the regional economy, restore connectivity, and improve inclusivity and preparedness for future crises.
