Summary
Cohosted by ADBI and Chulalongkorn University, this virtual conference explored policy strategies and designs to strengthen healthcare and social protection systems in the post-COVID-19 era. Bringing together policy makers, scholars, and experts, it featured a policy dialogue highlighting policy responses for achieving resilient healthcare schemes and inclusive social protection.
The conference included three sessions that address (i) the development of comprehensive and inclusive health systems; (ii) promoting inclusive social welfare and social protection systems for all; and (iii) policy dialogue on the development of resilient health and social protection systems in Asia.
Objectives
- Examine current trends, challenges, and opportunities related to health and social protection systems
- Explore policy strategies and designs for promoting resilient healthcare schemes, and inclusive social protection systems, including universal health coverage
- Build a network between the public-private sector and researchers on the development of comprehensive frameworks for health and social systems
Target Participants
- Government officials from Asian Development Bank member economies
- Experts in public health and finance-related fields from think tanks, universities, and international organizations
- Members of the public interested in public health, social protection, and public finance
Output
- Identification of effective policy strategies for strengthening post-COVID-19 healthcare and social protection systems in Asia
- Greater dialogue and partnership among policy makers and experts
- Policy recommendations on healthcare surveillance and monitoring mechanisms and preparedness for future health crises
- Webinar recordings and other materials will be uploaded to the ADBI website
