Summary

Many countries in Asia and Europe, particularly those with more developed economies, are grappling with aging societies. At the same time, many developing countries are experiencing rapid shifts in their relative numbers of children, working population, and elderly, while others, including some in Asia with less developed economies, still have younger populations.

This ADBI-Fulbright University Vietnam virtual workshop will examine aging societies, their economic impacts, and policy responses in Asia and Europe. It will feature thematic and country-level case studies of aged, aging, and young societies. It will also explore effective policies and measures to address demographic transition and alleviate socioeconomic burdens.
