Objective
The demand for data that can provide more nuanced view of poverty and facilitate a more equitable distribution of development resources continues to rise. How can big data such as those from satellite imagery help reduce poverty? The webinar will present the results from a special supplement to Key Indicators for the Asia and the Pacific 2020 and discuss the enormous potential of innovative data sources in enhancing our understanding of various development issues, particularly poverty.
Webinar attendees will engage with a panel of experts to:
- Discuss how the application of satellite imagery in various fields, including the development sector, evolved through time.
- Learn how innovative sources of data in the digital age, can enhance the compilation and policy use of development statistics including data on poverty.
- Discover what types of investments are needed by national statistical systems to be able to integrate new sources of data into their work programs and embrace a new paradigm of compiling data for development.
