Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are a pillar of the Asian economy, comprising about 96% of all enterprises, 67 percent of the workforce, and about 42% of GDP in the region. Yet many SMEs face difficulties accessing finance which weighs on the sector’s potential to drive productivity and sustainable growth in the region.
This conference will explore how credit guarantee funds can promote SME finance in Asia. Focus will be on identifying policies and digital tools such as fintech that could maximize the effectiveness of credit guarantee funds as an enabler of SME finance, growth, employment, and investment.
