In celebration of the 50th year of the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific, ADB's statistical flagship publication, the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department’s Statistics and Data Innovation Unit (EROD-SDI) will launch the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2019 and will also conduct a discussion forum on the theme, “The Future of Data and Official Statistics.” The Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2019 presents the latest statistics on a comprehensive set of economic, financial, social, environmental, and Sustainable Development Goals indicators for the regional members of the ADB. It is designed to serve as a resource for information on development issues across the region for a wide audience, including policymakers, development practitioners, government officials, researchers, students, and the general public.
Specifically, the forum aims:
- to discuss how the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific series as a data publication and ADB’s statistical capacity building initiatives have evolved over the past 50 years,
- to identify the role of data and statistics in facilitating evidence-based policymaking, and
- to discuss the future of data and official statistics and ways to further capitalize on conventional and innovative data sources to promote evidence-based policymaking.
