Summary
The accelerating digitalization of economies and societies, spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, is opening opportunities for governments to more efficiently deliver social services and social protection. However, insufficient policy development and harmonization are among the barriers impeding digital services growth in emerging countries.
Hosted by ADBI, the Asian Development Bank, and the National Information Society Agency of the Republic of Korea, this workshop for policy makers from developing Asia and the Pacific will explore how governments can leverage digitalization to enhance social services, social protection, and labor markets. It will feature expert lectures, case studies, and field trips, and provide a platform for discussing digital transformation trends.
Objectives
- Highlight ways to build the capacity of governments to utilize digitalization in developing Asia and the Pacific
- Discuss policy strategies for boosting social overhead capital to promote digital development
- Examine challenges and opportunities facing policy makers as digitalization accelerates
