Webinar Summary

This ADBI-Asian Development Bank Urban Sector Group webinar featured Wu Weiping of Columbia University who discussed the bridging of infrastructure investment demand and the interests of private and institutional investors. Wu examined private investment participation over time across four infrastructure sectors – energy, telecommunications, transport, and water and sewage – in the People’s Republic of China and compared it with that in other emerging economies including Brazil, Chile, India, the Russian Federation, South Africa, and Turkey. Drawing upon this analysis and in-depth interviews with domestic and global investors, Wu assessed the implications for private and institutional investment in different infrastructure sectors.
