ADB's South Asia Regional Department, in collaboration with the World Bank’s South Asia Energy and Social Development Units and Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), is organizing the Second Partnership Forum of the Women in Power Sector Professional Network in South Asia– WePOWER – to support workforce participation of women in energy projects and institutions, and promote normative change regarding women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.  

Objectives

The 2nd WePOWER Partnership Forum in Manila will bring together about 80 participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to share WePOWER’s Charter; commitments and accomplishments of strategic and institutional partners; and technical sessions on how to enhance STEM education as well as  recruitment, development and retention of women in South Asian utilities to result in higher productivity, more diverse decision-making, and better understanding of gender-based needs of staff and clients.
