Seminar: Financing Asia’s Green Transformation

Purpose

ADBI’s Small Seminar Series brings prominent scholars to ADBI to encourage debate among policymakers, researchers, academics, think tanks, and other audiences interested in economic development challenges in the Asia and Pacific region.

Background

Ulrich Volz is a senior lecturer (associate professor) in the Department of Economics at SOAS, University of London. He is also a senior research fellow at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and an honorary professor of economics at the University of Leipzig. He previously taught at Peking University, Hertie School of Governance, Freie Universität Berlin, and Central University of Finance and Economics.

Objectives

The presentation will highlight the importance of accounting for environment- and climate-related risks in the financial sector and discuss the role of financial governance in greening financial systems, such as initiatives aimed at aligning the financial system with sustainable development.

Policymakers, academics, outside researchers, and the general public; approximately 30 participants.
