Gender bonds are social bonds where the use of proceeds are exclusively channeled to finance programs or activities promoting women’s empowerment or gender equality. Such bonds aim to achieve development impact for groups of women such as entrepreneurs, female employees in an organization, or consumers. 

In Georgia and Mongolia, ADB has issued large bonds that are increasing lending opportunities to women-led businesses.
