ADB Governors discussed how future regional cooperation can be reshaped as a means to reducing vulnerabilities to natural or man-made shocks and building economic and social resilience. Panelists also explored collective solutions to build back better, greener, and smarter.

Regional cooperation and integration has been a powerful force for economic transformation and inclusive growth in Asia and the Pacific. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has disrupted cross-border trade, investment, and tourism—exposing vulnerabilities in global supply chains and turning back the clock on globalization. Daunting challenges now lie ahead to overcome and recover from the pandemic.

The event was held as part of the 54th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors.
