Title: Better Roads Spur Trade in Azerbaijan
Description: A truck driver relates how upgraded roads in Azerbaijan are helping producers deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to the country's markets faster.
SOT: Truck Driver Translation
I have been working as a truck driver for almost 30 years, transporting fruits and vegetables, mostly between Georgia and Baku. It used to take me 20 to 25 hours to travel the distance. Often, perishable goods were spoiled on the long journey.
After the road was upgraded, with support from ADB, travel time was reduced to 8-10 hours, and the fruits and vegetables now arrive fresh at the market benefiting customers and entrepreneurs alike.
