Q: What needs to be done to improve customs procedures to boost connectivity in the CAREC region?
A: CAREC as a national entity or to ensure regional cooperation, what is important is to ensure the smooth flow. There should be several corridors because CAREC region, Central Asia, connects Asia and European side, so they should have a very efficient supply chain. Several corridor projects are there. For that what is really important is to ensure more than this management method of custom procedures because you cannot really open all 100% containers but then identify the least then all these areas you have to ensure smooth flow of goods and that kind of using technology and modern risk management technique is necessary that is what is WCO provides together with ADB. And also it is important to increase the cooperation between customs so that they can be more smoothly connected.
