In his first address to staff, ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa mapped out his vision for ADB—from being a "home doctor" to becoming the partner of choice, known for its global influence and strong country presence.

President Asakawa cited extreme poverty, gender equity, climate change, quality infrastructure with private sector participation, and domestic resource mobilization as the key issues he wants to address during his tenure. He highlighted knowledge, the One ADB approach, and a culture of innovation by promoting mutual respect among staff at all levels as key areas that will enable ADB to keep up with the changing times.
