Panelists in this high-level session reflected on lessons learned in regional cooperation from the historical Silk Road, especially at times of crisis. The discussion highlighted the benefits of regional cooperation in reviving and fostering economic growth in a post-COVID-19 environment.

The potential role of regional cooperation platforms, such as the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), in building countries’ resilience to future crisis, and how countries can use and adapt these platforms for their mutual benefit, was also discussed.
