Thailand is a large consumer of electricity, with 70% of its power sourced from natural gas and 21% from coal and lignite. Energy consumption in the country is growing much faster than the gross domestic product and energy consumption is responsible for more than 50% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. One of the world's largest solar farms is helping to address these issues. Not only is it helping to reduce the country’s reliance on imported fossil fuels but is also benefiting the communities in its neighborhood through increased labor and education opportunities.
