During ADB’s Gender Month, experts and leaders weighed in on what companies can do to advance gender equality and promote women's leadership in the workplace. While glass ceilings are slowly cracking in Philippine publicly listed companies, glass walls continue to keep women in support roles making it challenging to reach senior leadership positions compared to those in technical roles. Grab Philippines shared good practices in hiring more women driver-partners by investing in recruitment efforts and skills training. In ADB, the representation of women increased to a historic high of 40% in 2023 across the ADB Board roles of Director, Alternate Director, and Director’s Advisor while the proportion of female Directors rose to 33%. The panel discussed the importance of setting gender equality goals and target goals, the value of mentorship and affirmative approaches, and creating an inclusive work environment.
