Description Uttarakhand State Road Investment Program -Project 2 will help the State of Uttarakhand to (i) improve a sub-network of roads totaling about 898 kilometers; (ii) undertake business process re-engineering of Public Works Department (PWD); and (iii) increase PWD staff's asset management skills.

Status of Implementation Progress (Outputs, Activities, and Issues)

(A) Civil Works:

The civil works for improvement and strengthening of roads with a total length of 898 km were awarded under 20 contract packages. As on 1 January 2015, 18 civil works contracts have been completed and remaining 2 contracts are expected to be completed by 31 March 2015.

(B) Infrastructure Management Component:

Infrastructure Management Consultant (IMC) engaged under the Project, to assist PWD in the implementation of this component has already completed its services. IMC has assisted PWD in the areas of (i) planning, and management information and project management system (MIPMS); (ii) road maintenance; and (iii) human resources strategy and training. IMC has also worked with PWD on a strategic plan for the rehabilitation and maintenance of PWD roads through area based maintenance contracts.
